- Construction began in 2009 with completion expected by 2017. A decision by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie in late 2010 canceled the project because of the fear of expected cost increases that the state would be forced to absorb.

- $2.3 billion cost, of which $900 million from federal New Starts funds, $251 million in state funds, and $1.2 billion from local Measure A sales tax (approved by voters in 2000)

- 5.3-mile line will extend existing subway from existing Downsview terminus to Vaughan Corporate Center, via York University
- Seven stations planned, all in subways; will feature very interesting architectural styles.
- Will be first section of the subway extending outside of Toronto City and into York Region.
- Trains are planned at 4-minute frequencies
- $2.6 billion (Canadian) cost, funded by Government of Canada ($697 million), Ontario ($870 million), Toronto ($526 million), and York ($352 million)

- Eglinton-Scarborough Crosstown Line- 2020
- 15.5-mile line running from Jane Street/Black Creek Drive to Scarborough City Center, replacing existing Scarborough RT on segment from Kennedy Station to Scarborough
- Line was originally planned as part of Mayor David Miller’s Transit City program. Project initially included a stretch of subway, with much of the line above ground. Mayor Rob Ford, who entered office in 2010, however, pushed to put the entire stretch from Jane Street to Kennedy Station (11.8 miles) underground. The entire project will be grade separated as the section from Kennedy Station to Scarborough City Center will be elevated.
- 26 stations planned.
- Future extension to Toronto-Pearson Airport is proposed and was part of initial Transit City plans.
